Joel 2:12-17:

We (the church) are to repent, weep, fast, pray, & cry out to God in the hopes that He will relent and turn away the coming judgment. This sounds like praying for revival to me. The church should not pray for more judgment, more persecution. We need to start with ourselves, and repent! We need to pray for our church, repenting for our Laodicean ways. Then we intercede for our community. Then we intercede for our city. Then we intercede for our nation, then the world.

Don't pray for persecution. That's just a side effect. Pray for revival in your own heart.

"They believe that we need persecution. They believe that we need incarceration. They believe we need hardship. They believe we need a public coliseum. They believe we need the lions back."

Yeah, so that instead of gloating in our prosperity we can gloat in our martyrdom. Sounds like a great idea to me! **SARCASM**

What we need is revival. Great Awakening. Move of God. Persecution will come - but foolish is the person who wishes for it. Does anyone really think the early church, or the Apostles thought "just what we need to wake the church up...persecution! Yeah, bring it on!"???

I don't think so.

Back in 2005 Kenya was voting on a new constitution, part of which would have made special place for courts for Muslims.

The Christians went crazy with their campaigns against the constitution claiming that that would be the first step towards a Muslim dominated state.

I went to a meeting with some pastors and casually remarked that Sharia law might be the best thing to happen to Christianity in Kenya. I said that a little persecution would seperate the goats from the lambs.

I thought those pastors were going to pick up stones to throw at me. Apparently numbers are more important to them.

I agree the only way to bring out the lions is to bring out the trouble.

Agreed - I posted a question to this on relevant however. How do we draw the lions in our culture. Some people think you do it by picketing abortion clinics, gay rally s or protesting Disney. Obviously that hasn't worked and the us vs. culture thing has turned more people off than its turned on. You raise a great question - what's the answer - and how to do we inspire people to do it.
