Scotty’s Story: The Power Of Addiction & Redemption

Scotty Barfield was a major meth dealer and car thief in Lakeland. I first met him while he was still in prison and he was the first person we baptized at Compass Point. Yesterday we discussed addiction during our “Got Baggage?” sermons series and this is the video we showed. By the way, the Celtic cross tattoo on his neck was recently done…to cover up a tattoo of a Nazi symbol.

Chris Thanks for doing this with Scottie— MY SON— his story has always been very touching to me. I am so glad he is clean and in God’s hands now and he is a son I can be proud of. I have always loved him but sometimes I didn’t always like him,and now, HE UNDERSTANDS. He has come a long ways away from where he use to be and I only have the all mighty God above to thank for that. I thank God every day for the son he gave back to me after his accident. I Love You Son Mom

Chris, that’s an incredible story! How did you meet Scotty? How long was the journey before the accident where the turning point was when he gave his life to christ? Thanks for sharing, it inspires me to reach out to the “unreachable”. Thanks, Kevin

It takes a real man to admit his failures. I know several young girls that have struggled with meth addiction two of them are new moms. So far they are clean and were during their pregnancies. The only thing that has kept them clean was clinging to Jesus. Scotty, Thanks for sharing a peice of who you were and who you have become. Thanks again, Billie Jo
