Recommendations

Being a pastor, I have had the opportunity to attend many Christian leadership conferences over the years. I would always receive quite a bit of information, but in most situations it didn’t stir my heart.  This time Chris Elrod really spoke to my heart! The authenticity that he displays and his dynamic presentation style is what meant the most to the audience members I talked to.  I would highly recommend Chris to any organization, church or conference. Though sharing his personal experiences and thought-provoking ideas as a pastor, he will touch the hearts of those attending!

Chris, I want to thank you for coming to Nebraska last weekend.  Your dedication, enthusiasm and speaking ministry helped to make the event a success.  The church’s dream of reaching our community for Jesus Christ became a reality thanks to your participation.  We look forward to a time when we can have you back.

Syracuse Methodist Church
Syracuse, Nebraska

Wow!!! That is what many of our singles said after Chris Elrod spoke at our “Single Vision Conference”.  The Lord used Chris to not only bless and encourage us, but a number of the audience members made life-changing decisions.  Having worked with Chris before, I felt that our people needed to hear his message.  He is Biblical, dynamic, encouraging, hilarious and authentic. We can’t wait to have him back!

Chris Elrod is a man of prayer and power – a true warrior for God.  Using his great sense of humor, he captivates a college audience and then lays out the cold, hard facts about the Gospel.  A powerful message that changes lives!  We will definitely have him back.

Chris, the outreach program you provided was extremely well received by the inmate population.  You uncanny ability to mix the power of the Gospel with humor is extraordinary.  Everyone is talking about your analogy of “Space Mountain” to one’s walk with God.  Your love for God and these men is evident in your openness and honesty.  Your willingness to go into the SMU and Close Custody Unit to minister to these men not only demonstrate you desire to be a servant of God, but more importantly, let them know of your genuine care and concern for them.

1. What kind of events does Chris speak at?

  • Pastor conferences
  • Leadership conferences and breakout sessions
  • Church planting seminars
  • Single and single-again retreats
  • College chapels
  • Church events
  • Prison programs

2. Does Chris still do comedy events or emcee programs?
Yes, while these are not Chris’ primary calling these days, he will still occasionally dust off the comedy routine for special events or act as an emcee at fundraising programs.  To see a sample of his comedy routine, click here.

3. Does Chris speak at high school or middle school event?
On rare occasions and under the right circumstances Chris will speak at high school events. While he does accept speaking engagements where both high school and middle school students will be in attendance, he does not accept middle school only events.

4. What is the speaking honorarium for Chris?
He does not have a set honorarium.  We ask that the sponsoring organization pray about what God would have them provide.  There is place on the Speaking Request to list the honorarium.  While we require that honorarium information prior to considering a speaking request, it is rarely a deciding factor in which engagements are accepted.

5. What are the expenses for Chris?
While we do not have a set honorariums for Chris, all travel costs are expected to be covered by the sponsoring organization with no out-of-pocket expense to Chris.  These costs are over and above the honorarium.  These costs include:

  • Airfare for two (2) people
  • Two (2) non-smoking hotel rooms (Holiday Inn quality or better)
  • All meals
  • One (1) mid-sized rental car when necessary.

On occasion Chris’ traveling associate will be his wife Denise and only one (1) hotel room will be needed.

6. Why does Chris travel with someone else?
The simple answer is accountability.  Also Chris has a medical condition that can cause great fatigue. Sometimes he needs help with luggage, setting up the resource table, etc.

7. What is Chris’ medical condition and how does it affect his speaking ministry?
Chris has an inoperable aneurysm in his ascending aorta.  It is pressing down on his aorta valve which can cause great fatigue. He has good days and bad days depending on the amount of blood getting through the valve.  There are times this causes him to need quite a bit of rest before and after speaking to an audience.  It also limits him with physical events sometimes planned for retreats or camps (games, sports, zip lines, etc.).

8. What is the process for scheduling Chris to speak at an event?
The first step is to check the Speaking Calendar to see if Chris is available.  The next step is to complete the online Speaking Request form.  Once we receive the form Chris and his accountability board will pray and decide if it is an event Chris can commit to. Once a decision has been reached you will be contacted by phone or email.
