In studying other healthy churches I discovered that their staff members work very hard to constantly pass the baton of leadership to their people. They have resources, events, discipleship and mentoring programs in place to develop new leaders…and then allow those new leaders to unleash their potential for the vision of the church.
At Compass Point we’ve tried hard over the last two years to be better at this. One of the ways in which we do it is by taking our key volunteers and leaders to the UNLEASH Conference at NewSpring Church in Anderson, South Carolina. At NewSpring we found a large church that is extremely healthy. They keep their programming simple, their leadership laser-focused on vision and their people constantly looking out for others to share Christ with. The UNLEASH Conference gives our folks a taste of that culture and helps them see the potential for what Compass Point is called to do in Lakeland, Florida. The thing we love the most is that their leadership uses the breakout times to inspire our folks to utilize simplcity and the power of God to see miraculous things happen for the cause of Christ. Our people come back with a sense that we can accomplish big things for God…even with limited resources. To top it all off, Perry Noble brings two challenging messages during UNLEASH that are tailor-made for church volunteers…and never ceases to rock the world of our leaders. Compass Point is healthy…but better unleashing of new leaders is helping us get even healthier! UNLEASH helps with that unleashing. 🙂
This year the Compass Point UNLEASH trip is March 3rd through March 5th (the actual conference is March 4th) and we want to take as many Compass Point folks as we can. The cost is $150 (you only need a $50 deposit right now to sign up) which includes your transportation, hotel, conference fees and most of the meals. To sign up online go here.
