Our Teens Went To Battle

On the third Wednesday of every September Christian students gather around their school’s flagpole to pray for their fellow students and faculty…it’s called See You At The Pole.  In years past the FCA has always headed that event up in each school…planning, promoting and implementing the activities.  This year FCA teacher/sponsors were told by the Polk County School Board they could not.  School faculty were told they would lose their jobs if they participated in See You At The Pole (s0me ignored this).  Also local pastors were told they could not participate in the event at all (many ignored this).  As a result this year saw the single worse attendance at See You At The Pole for Polk County.  In some schools there were a few dozen…at others only a handful.

At Kathleen Middle School there was only Amanda Atkinsona Compass Point teen…and a friend she brought along praying around the flagpole.  Two teens…praying by their schools’ flagpole as hundreds of students filed past them on their way to breakfast, early band rehearsal or class.  Two teens…praying for the their entire school, faculty and administration.  Two teens…ignoring the jeers, weird looks and taunts from fellow students. Two teens…standing in the gap as prayer warriors for the cause of Christ.  Without Compass Point…and the investment in our Student Ministry…no one would have been at the flagpole at Kathleen Middle School.
