Yesterday was one of those really GREAT days that makes me love being a pastor. Let me rephrase that…yesterday was one of those really AWESOME days that makes me love being the Senior Pastor of Compass Point Church! Every week we see new people walk into Compass Point…and yesterday was no exception. Every week we see people that have given up on Church come to Compass Point…and yesterday was no exception. Every week we see people far from God begin to embrace the Truths of God’s Word…and yesterday was no exception. Every week we have people of different backgrounds, ages, income levels and cultures come to Compass Point…and yesterday was no exception.
What was different…is that two new teens showed up at the butt crack of dawn to help set up. At the end of the service…the band played “Salvation Is Here”…and old song…but one that our church seems to love. Fred Capel has been bugging me to go up and sing with the band on that song (by the way…Fred can’t really sing all that well…but who cares…he’s pretty passionate) so we let him go sing the song with the band. The next thing we know every teen in the building goes up on stage to sing…a power trio of musicians…and 20 middle school and high school students. Pretty freakin’ awesome!!! Somewhere in all of this we packed out the bed of a pickup truck with boxes of diapers and baby wipes to donate to a local crisis pregnancy center. In the kids’ rooms they were receiving offering to buy Spanish Bibles for missionaries to use here in the States and abroad. To top off a truly AMAZING day we gathered at Camp Gilead Lake for a baptism celebration. This Twitter post from one of our teenagers pretty much sums it up.
Yesterday was great…but the crazy thing is…yesterday has been happening quite a bit around Compass Point. There is a moving of the Holy Spirit going on…something supernatural…something that only God can do. I want us to celebrate it. I want us to ride it. I want us to do our best to please God through it. But most of all…I want us to never take it for granted!!!
