The Price Of Sin

Bruno Mars is a new music artist that released his debut album this week and it’s first single “Just The Way You Are” has already climbed into the Top 5.  He appears to be a star on the rise with a promising future at hand.  The problem is…a few weeks ago Bruno was busted with a sizable amount of cocaine in his possession while in Las Vegas.  He is facing a possible 4 years behind bars.  That’s four years of no tours, no promotional appearances, no new albums, no new singles, no interviews and no appearances on a red carpet somewhere.  Four years of no activity in the music world spells death to a career…a career that may never get off the ground for Bruno…before it really started.

The price of sin is a costly one.  Sin will take you farther than you want to go…keep you longer than you want to stay…and costs you more than you want to pay.  Sin almost always starts off as a small thing that feels good and then grows to this HUGE monkey on your back that has to be constantly fed until it becomes a size to destroy.  The other thing about sin…it always is exposed at some point. Galatians 6:7-8 spells out pretty vividly that sin doesn’t stay secret and will reap destruction.

Bruno Mars has wanted this shot at the music business since he was was young boy…and now that he finally has it…the shot may not happen because of a “little sin”.  What thing has God laid on your heart to do?  That desire that drives you…the calling that consumes you?  Now…what sin are you about to engage in that can bring that calling…that desire…crumbling down?  Stop RIGHT NOW and pray that God will help you flee from that sin.  Confess it and take the necessary spiritual and practical steps to no longer succumb to that sin.  Fight it…run from it…kill it…and then go do what God has laid on your heart to do for His Kingdom.
