This past Sunday I loved watching my favorite NF team…the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They were playing their rivals the Atlanta Falcons for the division lead. The sports analysts really didn’t expect them to do too well…they expected it to be a blow out in favor of the Falcons. No one told the Bucs that. They hit the field to win…in fact they expected to win. Every time the Bucs would get behind they’d find a way to score…even going ahead of the Falcons at times. In the final two minutes of the game the Bucs were behind…but playing like champs. They were not feeling defeated…they believed they could win…they had a certain arrogance…a certain swagger. In the end they lost, but even at the press conference the players still had that swagger. They were talking about how they were going to still make the playoffs. I love that.
I want Compass Point to walk, talk and conduct ministry with a swagger. I want our leaders, volunteers and regular attenders to have a swagger. I want us to have that swagger that tells the world we have already won. That we will not be defeated. That we believe that God is going to deliver on His promises daily. That even when we’ve been rocked by Satan…we will look forward to kicking his butt again in the future. Swagger…it could become one of our core values in the days to come.
